How to spell the name is the most important. SHIH TZU! Once you get that mastered that, go to the American Shih Tzu Clubs website, and that will tell you every thing that you need to know about the dogs.

**** With your parents permission, you can e-mail me with any and all of your questions. I breed Shih Tzus and will answer anything you need to know. But make sure before you e-mail me that your parents allow you to. You shouldn't e-mail strangers without your parents knowledge. Katslookup@yahoo.com

I work as a vet tech and shih zus are good dogs, some of their common problems in that breed are 1: Skin problems. 2: breathing issues because of their short nose. 3:And you do have to careful with their eyes, because if you restrain then to hard or they get choked(with a collar being pulled by a leash) the pressure can bulge their eyes.

Have mercy on me! I "rescued" one from a neighbor who let his run the streets! I also owned another one years ago. Lots of energy, and both were alpha dogs, except around other animals. They are so darn cute that you tend to spoil them, and they will really take advantage of you and become boss of the house. Check into obedience classes where you live! Keep them brushed, because they will mat easily. Watch their eyes because their fur will cover them, and keep their ears clean. You will want to have them groomed. Mine have both been very loyal and lay by me. Except when I call them in from outside!

very cute, but can be cranky. stobborn and rule the house they are the master not you. they tend to have back problems, and you have to continusly clean out there ears, and eyes. be careful what you feed them because they are so cute they will get over weight very easily they like to eat!. when they are older they also get these bumps on them that look like warts. also need cont. grooming because of the long hair.

like the person befor me said i also rescued mine form a person because the dog kept sneaking out the door and they were worried about her gettin hit by a car.. so be careful they are very sneaky!

I'm not an expert on this kind of dog, but...I'm sure that it isn't so different than other dogs of that size and weight.

Dogs with smaller legs tend to have many leg related injuries in their older years, be sure to be gentle anywhere near the shins of the animal. (unlike a larger dog, it can have permanent damages)
