I understand that there are a few reputable breeders out there who are breeding to better the breed an offer high quality pets to good families.
But, why, when it costs between $41 and $51 to have the dogs fixed, why wouldn't they? Do people not understand that it is healthier for the animal? Why, why, why???!!!

Ok, it was a semi-rant, but I really want to know if there was a legitimate reason for it.
Also, spaying a female before they reach 18 months old decreases their chance of getting breast cancer by 100%. The risk of prostate cancer and enlargement is likely to occur in 80% of male dogs who are not neutered . So by saying there is no medical reason for fixing a dog, proves to me that too many people are just plain ignorant!

If they understood the crisis of overpopulation of pets they would. If they saw firsthand the millions of cats and dogs that are killed each year in the USA alone because there are not enough homes, they might. If they saw the tears of the shelter workers who have to kill these innocent animals, even as puppies and kittens, they might.
If they witnessed the thousands of dead animal carcasses sitting on the floors of pet food rendering plants, before they are thrown in a rendering machine to be made into pet food, they might.
If they realized how much money is spent on the killing of innocent animals, they might.
If they saw the pain and terror in an animals eyes when it knows it is about to die, because it smells the death behind the door, maybe then they will.
Maybe then.

I had a female who I fixed when she was six months old and she died of breast cancer. Vet told me they say it will stop cancer but it dose not. I have found a number of females that statement about getting them fixed before 18 months was a bunch of yooie.
I have not fixed my male becasue I have and will bred him with the woman who trained him female, so far 3/4 of the puppies have proven good to train for service and therpy dogs. I want as many people to have what I now have. Last but not least this is a free country were we can do what we feel is right for us. But watch out groups like PETA and HSUS wants and have taken these right away. Just look at Louisville.

Hey I just got a puppy from a breeder. When asked, what he thought was a good time to have the puppy fixed. His response was I will rowen a good dog. But you can do what you want.
Well my puppy will be nuder in February. To answer your question. People think nothing of getting a dog. But are not willing to except responsibility for it. I live in Long Island and it cost a little more then $50. But hey if you don't have money to spare don't get a dog. Because they cost money to take care of, and keep safe. I know I don't want my dog to be one of the dogs I see on a daily basis roaming the neighborhood.

For some reason they think its harming the animal. I rescued a little doxie that was not only not fixed he never had any shots and he was a year old!! These people had money but they didn't feel it was necessary. They were nice people too but they didn't train the dog or give him any of the basics.. so its just ignorance I guess.

It's the uneducated that don't fix their pets (unless u r a reputable breeder)..In the long run you are saving so many dogs and cats lives by spaying and neutering them. Don't believe me? Go to the dog pound, and see how many of these animals are put down every year.

Because in some areas the cost is doubled or triple the cost. I have a friend who paid $220 to have a little dog neutered.
It usually cost me about $100

Too early of spay will also mean a 100% chance in urinary tract problems in later life in giant breed dogs, you are the ignorant one. Perhaps you need to get a veternary degree, I have one, if you had one perhaps you would not ask stupid questions.

I have no idea. Maybe they are lazy or are poor and don't have the money. But I think it is mostly laziness and carelessness
