What could be the reason for a bad-tasting pack of cigarettes (not normal)?

It was a pack of Marlboro Reds...they were rough with a weird taste. The whole pack was like that and I just bought them yesterday. Could it be bad tobacco and do you think it would be harmful to continue smoking that pack? Do you think the store would take them back with 9 gone?

Spare me the lecture about smoking please. I don't care.

They were probably stale for sitting on the shelf for so long.

check the seal on the bottom of the pack they are probably really old

Probably just stale.
