Has your Bank ever enrolled you in something without your knowledge?

My bank has enrolled me into several
1. a discount travel agency
2. some sort of auto repair discount
I noticed this just recently , and thougt I was a victim of ID theft .
The thing is I did not authorize or sign or even recieve any membership notice nothing ! Both companys say my bank has done this but I did not authorize any of this .

While your bank does have the right to take out insurance on an item that you may buy and force you to pay the premiums (like if you buy a car and don't buy insurance...they may force it and just charge you back).....

They certainly DON'T have the right to enroll you in anything you didn't authorize that they don't have an ownership interest in.

However, you are going to have to get out your original bank account documents....which is loaded with tons of disclosures that are so filled with minutae that most people never read them....

Well...you need to read them.....there's a chance that really buried in the small print is an actual authorization for them to sign you up for this stuff.....it's too bad really because it is completely deceptive if they did that.

The other possibility is that they just signed you up without you knowing....in this case....just refuse to continue to pay until they send you affirmative proof that you actually signed up....either a signed statement or a transcript of a telemarketing call....maybe even a tape of the call itself. If they can't produce it, then you have a few options.....one you should be able to not only stop paying for it....but you should be entitled to a refund of all the 'fees' you've paid...depending on your state's laws.

Your state's attorney general's office will take care of this for you....they love these kinds of cases.
