I was devastated when my wife told me that Methusaleh was out. I mean, how much more Biblical do you get than that?

Anyway, it's recently come to my attention that we need to find a good baby name.

Here's my girl name favorites: Madison, Reagan, Sophie, Cheney, Emily.

You'll notice none of those are Biblical (though Reagan obviously should be). Have any good Biblical girl names?

Boys: Michael and David. Please God may you limit the boys we have to two because I can't find any other names for them. I will have to name them Ashley or Megan or something. And nobody wants that!

So, does anyone have a suggestion for girl/boy names, preferably Biblical (though secular is okay, too)?

Yes. My name is Christopher. It is obviously--by far--the best boys' Biblical name. But it's my name. My son is going to have to go a different route.

Tell your wife, that the FATHER gets to name the baby! See ....

(Luke 1:57) Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

(Luke 1:58) And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

(Luke 1:59) And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

(Luke 1:60) And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

(Luke 1:61) And they said unto her, = = There is none of thy kindred that is = = called by this name.

(Luke 1:62) And they made signs = = = to his father, = == how he would = = = have him called.

(Luke 1:63) And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

(Luke 1:64) And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

Perhaps I personally wound not name him Methuselah because that name means, When this man dies, judgment comes!

IF he is the first Male Child, I would call him, Baruch [Blessed] because...

(Luke 2:23) (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

As for a Girl, it would be Leaha.

Thanks, RR

Many of the Hebrew names end with -ah or -iah so they sound feminine although it may be a man's name. Keep that in mind! Example: Ariel is a man's name in the bible; Azariah sounds feminine- isn't. Here are some female names: Adah, Deborah, Eve, Hannah, Jerusha. I have a friend named Lael- female, but male name. Naomi, Ruth, Sapphira, Priscilla, Lydia, Mary, Salome (pronounced "Sah-LO-me), Esther, Miriam, Zipporah, Zilla. It's a start- also check "Hebrew names" when you go to baby name cites. Baby name's world has a bunch. :) Congratulations of your little girl!

How about Ester for a girl it means star. Or Judith, she was a mighty woman of God. I think that there are saints named Sophia and Emily so they may not be biblical but have a good heritage.

i've always been partial to Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, Judith, Anne, Rachael, .... they are IMO strong names. don't forget you can use the secular names as the first or second name too!! there are also adaptations.... for example - Judean, after Jude (NOT judas).

one of my favorite boy names -- Luke.

i recommend having a "few" and once you meet your wonderful gift from God -- the name will come to you.

i personally like names with a history. my nephew is named after his great grandfather. when i took him to the fount. of youth in florida he asked "is this real". i told him of course.... your dziadzia Michael was here back in the late 1940's and here YOU are talking about him nad keeping him alive so.... he does live on forever as long as we remember. the kid was only 9 and this had stayed with him to this day!
