... why was Judas punished by being cast into hell? Why isn't he Saint Judas up there on the right hand of God himself? Jesus might have lived to a ripe old age and we'd all be unsaved without him.

If you're into that kind of thing.

I've been asking God about that forever. Still waiting for an answer after all this time!!
I don't think God thought this through properly and he's to obnoxious to admit he made a mistake!

Well since the Sadducee's (they were sad-u-see-LOL) and the Pharisees. Were determined to kill him and not the Roman empire, there really was no immediate need for Judas, they would have found another way to do away with Jesus in the end, also, Since Judas had been a disciple and had spent so much time, in a sense, in the presence of God, and then betrayed him, he was punished not made a saint. Hope this helps.

The specific acts committed in a lifetime are not what gets us sent to hell. It's about your heart condition. If Judas had repented to God for his sin of betrayal, he would have been forgiven. But we actually don't know if he did. From the story, it looks like he was sorry for what he did, and he went to the priests and tried to take it back. Maybe he repented, but he did it toward the religious leaders. There is no record of him repenting to God.

Your question is one that has been tossed around a lot. God gives us free will, but He also knows what we're going to do, He knows who will choose Him and who won't. He most likely knew that Judas wasn't going to become a true believer. He had a hard heart. That is why he was chosen as the betrayer (if that is the case) It was already in him to do that.

God is just. If Judas acted as a pawn of God, then I'm sure God allowed Him to go to Heaven. But if Judas acted as a pawn of Satan, that would be not so good.

Jesus offered Judas a choice and gave him the opportunity to do as he wanted, although Jesus knew the choice Judas would make He left it up to him,Judas betrayed Jesus because of greed and Jesus was bound to become the second Adam because the first fell into sin,Jesus being perfect was the only one that could die for our sins and allow us grace,Jesus was the only person w/o sin ,meaning that all of us is sinners and come short of the glory of God, betrayal and greed is why Judas couldnt be a saint,

Judas used his free will of choice. Greed is what got Judas into trouble. Although it was God's will for someone to betray Jesus, had it not been for Judas, there would have been someone else. Judas chose to betray Jesus but Jesus had not died for the sins of the world yet so Judas could not just receive Jesus as a Personal Saviour because the penalty for sin had to be paid for by The Blood of Jesus first. But Judas could have asked for forgiveness from The Father just as The Apostle Peter did but possibly chose not to do that either but rather committed suicide by hanging himself. So, no he does not deserve to sit on the right hand of God. Had he asked God for forgiveness, God's mercy would have been sufficient for him as it was for Peter. Thanks for the great question, I hope that helps. PEACE!!!

Jesus declared that One of his disciples would betray him.
and it is written it only cost 30 pieces of silver.
Peter was rebuked also and called satan, or the spirit that was inspiring him was rebuked! because it was the Plan of God for jesus to shed his blood and become the sacrificial lamb.

As i see it also, when jesus said that peter would deny him 3 times before morning rooster crow, it may have also been a plan to save Peter from suffering death with jesus at that time so that he could go on to fulfill a ministry in the world. They killed stephen because he was so filled withthe spirit, only because he went through the city or even the nation, i forget, with strong and zealous preaching.
Now back to Judas, it has been hypothesised that Judas was a member of the zealots who believed in a military take over, and he was convinced that delivering Jesus up to the Jewish leaders would become a show of great power and that the messiah would be Military Leader and not a sacrificed lamb. Judas killed himself because He thought it was his fault that jesus was killed. in the old law, to repent of a sin, Blood had to spilled for blood that was shed. So in a way He showed forth some repentance and sorrow for sin, it may be that he is not in hell as the catholics portray him to be or as many believe. Then again! he may be one of the unforgiven and damned.

Where does it say he was cast into hell?? I agree though, figure this, when Jesus said that someone would betray him, that guaranteed that it was so, therefore the "free will" thing was already destroyed, Judas couldn't have changed his mind if he wanted to. I don't know, but something is off with all that.

Can you give me the book, chapter and verse where it says that Judas was cast into hell?

I do not remember reading that, and the accounts in the gospels say that he repented and tried to return the silver but they would not accept it, so he threw it onto the floor and left.

God knows us through and through so he knows what we are going to do with our free will.

BTW, there is nowhere in the Bible that Judas was cast into hell. I have often thought what happened to him. He dined with Jesus, followed Him, saw His miracles..and still...

He had a choice, he did not make a good choice though.

You are asking too many questions that are not importany You need to ask yourself important questions like, where will I spend eternity. Is my name in the Lambs book of Life? Have I believed on Jesus so that I can live forever in heaven instead of hell. Is my Father God or satan? Those are good questions.

God did not force Judas to betray Jesus. It was Judas' will to do this.
