If the the "pot," (so to speak) is not intending to be rude or crueln and just want the kettle to realize....

Why can't people just take criticism without feeling like the person giving it has to be all better than them?

It's kind of funny. I couldn't think of anything to say in regards to your question, but after reading someone's post (and seeing the many mistakes) I was reminded that a lot of people don't give criticism because people DO get offended so easily!

You're pot calling the kettle black analogy only works if you are telling someone to "fix" something that you actually have the same problem with. Example: You are a drug abuser, you tell someone else they need to stop using drugs because they are bad. As for why people can't take criticism....well, if they didn't ask for it, they really don't need it then. And there is a thing called constructive criticism where you are genuinely trying to help someone improve. Constructive criticism usually won't offend someone. Criticizing because you think your way is better than their way will often offend someone.

The phrase about the color of the pot and the kettle has more to do with hypocrisy than with the right to judge.

If you really, for some reason, feel you absolutely need to offer criticism to someone about something in which you also need help, try asking that person if the two of you can work together on whatever it is you're working on.

For instance: if I can't draw a straight line, and then I tell you your lines aren't straight, should you really even listen to me? Am I qualified to tell you about straight lines? Perhaps it would be better if I were to ask you if we could help each other learn to draw straight lines.

Its the approach and the perception of the person giving the criticism. Also is it given to help this person become better or you just be critical? Also be mindful no one likes to be criticized. Because one day it will be your turn.

Because sometimes people put their heart and soul into something and in their eyes it is perfect. When some critisizes it , that is really a kick in the face. Sometimes it is better to lie. But if absolutely necessary tell the truth (like if someone is spending all of their time and money to pursue something that they are not even good at).

Because if the person who is pointing out your faults does the same thing he is criticizing in you, it is very hypocritical.
