Ok
So I don't drink...I've never been the type to party hard or anything so sometimes I'm kinda naive about these things. This guy I met told me he has about 5 drinks every weekend (I think at least 2 must be beer). During new year's eve he had 15 drinks!! including 5 beers, 3 shots, and the other stuff was some kind of vodka I think.
Is this normal? even if it's once a year, isn't 15 drinks too much??

if he says only 5 on weekends it could be more.......its like you arrest someone and they always say I only had "2" beers....lol
Seriously though, 15 sounds a lot but it was New Years Eve...maybe only then for him.....I only drink when I go to Greece each year and the rest of year never do....oh unless at the casino for a night once a year too..and I don't consider myself an alcoholic by any means. Frankly, I wouldn't be married to a drinker, grew up in a house with alcoholics and it turns me off big time.....do you think you could live with one????

Its not that unusual to over-imbibe on New Years, especially when many people around you are doing the same. If he could count 15 drinks, and he was still in control of himself enough to stay upright. No worries, just having fun.
Heck, We spent NYE at a nice hotel party and there were people falling down, etc all over the place. Just having fun.
Hopefully you didn't let him drive.
Now if this is a behavior he does often, there may be a problem, but something that happens once a year? No worries.
Social drinking on the order of 5-10 drinks on a weekend doesn't seem like much either if you are used to associating with people that drink regularly.
Since you are a non-drinker, you may want to ask yourself if this is a lifestyle you want to be involved in, as it it quite different than being around a group of non-drinkers.

That does seem excessive to me even for once a year. I'm surprised he was able to stand! I would say anymore than 2 drinks a day would be a problem. Most people have a drink when they go out. But if this guy's goal is to get plastered everytime he parties, he's got a big problem. Why not ask him..."when you're your partying, how do you want to feel?"..if he says, drunk, or loaded.... I think I'd get me a new friend. Then again, he may have been trying to impress you. I can see that it didn't....good for you!!! Godloveya.

15 drinks in one setting is a little extreme. I drink per hour or fourty-five minutes gives the body enough time to use up the alcohol with out getting impaired. Five on the weekend is fairly moderate when enough time passes. His biggest mistake is mixing all those different drinks, when a person switch from one type of alcohol to another they usally end up in being thrashed.

He might have a large tolerance. As long as he is keeping his drinking to just the weekends, then I wouldn't worry. If he ever starts coming home from work at 5 and is drunk by 8...then worry.

He sure doesn't sound like an alcoholic.
Sounds like a regular guy who partied hearty on New Years.
When / if his behavior makes you uncomfortable when he drinks, that's when you both have a problem.
Other than that....I think you're overreacting a bit.
I'm a recovering alcoholic...sober 17 years.
He sounds fine.

I don't think so. People tend to over indulge on New Years. Certainly 15 drinks can get you pretty close to alcohol poisoning, but it doesn't make him an alcoholic in my estimation.
Peace!

the first isn't a big deal. people often binge on special occasions like new year's. whtat you didn't tell us is whether or not he tips several everyday. how often are the binges? does he fail to get it up when he drinks? are you satisfied? it shows up down there everytime. lol
