i bought a 'wispa' (chocolate bar like an aero that i don't think is sold anymore) that was a limited edition cappucino flavour years ago. for some reason i never ate it and i still have it! the 'best before date' on the back of the bar is Jan 98! what should i do with this bar??! obviously it shouldn't be eaten, but i don't want to throw it away...

Try ebay, there is always someone who collects something, all you need is two of them to start a bidding war.

Chocolate has a special** property that the fats in chocolate do not go rancid like other fats. This is why chocolate stores so long and so well.

Even at this length of time the chocolate is likely to be safe to eat, but may have separated a little and might not taste the best for that reason.

If you can't sell it on ebay ... try it. If it tastes off, you might try to melt it and use it for some cooking purpose. I have used baking chocolate that was over 10 years old and it was perfectly fine.

Worst case ... it's only one bar (one that you forgot you had and won't miss to throw away) ... besides you could have found you had a whole case of it.
