Good work ethic and stability is always a plus, it doesn't matter if it comes from McDonalds or a law firm. After you start school, look in to volunteering in your community; another thing agencies like to see is a person that is vested in their community. If you want to build any experience, talk to your local agency about doing a "ride along" or look into an internship.
When I graduated with my degree, I graduated in the top 1% of my class. I volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, did an internship at the local jail, worked with offenders in the community full time and did a part time security gig with a security company ran by the former sheriff. You will bust your butt, however, the payoff is worth it.
All in all, the agencies would like to see some experience, but if you get experience that shapes how you will be as an officer with little experience being the officer, they will look past that when considering your loyalty to your first job. : ) Good luck!
BTW: Working in a law firm isn't going to do you much good to get a career in law enforcement - most police officers don't like lawyers anyways.

Promotions are always good, take it and enjoy the benefits. Once you've got the option of going for the Law Enforcement job you take that, being a manager doesn't mean they own you so there's nothing wrong with taking that position until something better comes along. :)

I don't think McDonald's is a good job for someone who wants to go into law enforcement. Try looking on the net, talking to ur college prof. for jobs in ur college major area. For example, You can try working in a law office. McDonald's has nothing to do with law enforcement. My advice to u, start surfing for a job relating to law.

You will make 2-3 times the amount an enlisted soldier makes!

To become a police officer start taking college courses part time while you work- you will need a four year degree.

More responsibilities absolutely won't hurt you. Get some schooling, and keep your nose clean. Good Luck!
