I think it would taste like molasses...if it were me, I would use light or fancy molasses as it would taste nicer, I think...if you like molasses, you should like it

No, it would taste like molasses, not caramel. You can make your own caramel sauce by placing a can of sweetened condensed milk (not canned milk, but the kind with sugar in it) in a pan of boiling water for three hours on simmer. Let cool before opening the can. The contents will be a brown caramel sauce. This will make a lovely caramel ice cream by mixing it in a vanilla ice cream base.

its possible, but you will have a hard time mixing it into your custard and it will taste of molasses not
caramel
taste the molasses and see if you like it
