Thanks for the suggestions--
I will use the light weight bat on my husband when he lets the dogs back in the house.

I'm guessing that this dog is not fully house trained. I have never had a dog that attempted to mark inside the house. I always have male dogs and even have one intact male with a neutered male right now but no one has ever urinated in the house. I think it's more of a training issue.

Like some of the other posters said, neutering can sometimes help. Otherwise, take him outside often and/or there are these things called "bellybands" that fit around a male dog's waist. You put a maxi pad inside and it traps the urine. Just change it a few times a day. These can be found at pet stores like Petsmart, Petco, etc.

First of all.... is he neutered? If not get it done...this is where the strong drive to "mark" his teritory comes from. I have a mini -dachshund ...he was a doll for the first 3 yrs(not neutered) never marked. Then out of nowhere when we took a stray cat in for awhile he started peeing on everything..and I mean everything!! You have to nip it in the butt right away or they will do it the rest of their lives. For discipline you have to catch his in the act...then give him a good swat (on his nose, its sensitive)and put him in a kennel. Dont do it after the fact it wont work...theyre minds dont have a long enough attention span to put the two together. Hope this helps. It has worked for me.

The best way to prevent this is to take the dog out for frequent walks. Dogs would much rather mark outdoors than indoors.
