If you want accurate information - ask somebody who has been there.

The news media is fixated on the negative so much that when I was there it was as if they were talking about a totally different country.

I don't think you will find the answers all in one place - the facts I mean. Be careful - there is a lot of bias out there. Even our Vice President has managed to contradict himself. So yes, I am a democrat and against the reasons why we invaded Iraq, and how many innocent men and women are dying today. It is important to fight a war against those who want to hurt others, also coined as "terrorist" (some really are just that), however it is also important to realize how much is involved in a war - lives, money, etc. and that is something our country did not do, and now we have in Iraq what has been arguably called a Civil War outbreak. Most things that you hear in in the news is bias and arguable. Stick to mainstream news networks that only state the facts, and stay away from those that only want to tell one side - Fox is very very conservative, and maybe some of CNN or MSNbc can be liberal...it depends on the commentator. Good Luck. War is never a good way to handle situations, especially when you go in unprepared. But that is my opinion, and even some republicans would agree with that.

The New York Times editorial page. They must have written close to a 100 essays about the pros and cons of American's involvement in Iraq. Or you could check out your own local newspaper, I'm sure they have had plenty of editorials on the topic.

I have had the unique opportunity of having my son over in Iraq and Kuwait for two of his four years of Army service, and have friends whose Army officer son has recently spent time in Afghanistan, and I can tell you they have "up close and personal" perspectives that you won't get anywhere else. To listen to the tv "news" or read typical "news"papers and magazines is to be inundated with lies focused on getting the U.S. out of the war, and they will not stop lying in any method and in any number they have to in order to get their political agenda done. But all you'll learn is their pacificist propaganda, which is not worth anything. There are some more responsible news sources, such as "The Washington Times" (NOT the washington post, which is just another liberal lying rag), and from there, you can be directed to innumerable more reliable and responsible news sources. You can still read the trash the regular "news" sources spew forth if you want, but at least you will have some more realistic information if you check out "The Washington Times", and follow what links they have available. I have subscribed to their weekly edition of their newspaper for several years now, and have read them on-line, so I'm confident whereof I speak. God Bless you.
