I have two daughters. One is 7 years old and my youngest is 9 months. We have already a lab and a chihuahua. We just bought a house and we are looking to add a new dog to the family but are not sure what to get. I want a golden retriver and my husband wants a boxer and my daughter wants a st. bernard. We have a huge yard and lots of love.

You must have some kind of energy, I barely keep up with my 7yr old, my one year old and there hampster...lol. But if you feel you must get another dog I would go for the st bernard, they are great with kids from what I hear. If I ever get a dog I'm getting a pekineese, they are the cutest dogs. I had one about 10yrs ago and he was one of the smartest dogs I've ever seen.

I have a three year old daughter and two boxers. I got the second one for my daughter's third birthday and the two of them are inseparable. My daughter loves Belle and Belle is an excellent dog, friend, playmate, and body guard.

Boxers rock!

Beagle females are naturally sweet and very maternal... Make sure they get spayed! They will never rough play with your kids but they do get hyper when they don't have a lot of excersise (if you're intersted a big yard helps!) They are sweet and loving dogs and I highly recomend thim when you have a little baby in the house.

Something nobody wants, but will love. You need variety, and can't favor one person. Get the nicest, cutest, loyalist looking/acting dog you can find, and also one with a reasonable price. Look for the lovable ones that NEED the family the most. It's like adopting, so choose carefully.

Well, whatever dog you get, just make sure it gets along with the other dogs and the whole family. I'm sure whatever dog you pick will be happy to live with you guys. My mom wanted a teacup puppy and my dad wanted a russel terrier, me and my brother were undecided. We ended up getting cats... which we love!!! Anyway, just go looking at different breeds and maybe you will find one you all love!

Get a dog or puppy from your local shelter or a nearby rescue group. You can get purebreds, mutts, whatever. Why contribute to pet over-population by *buying* a dog from a breeder, when there are thousands of wonderful dogs and puppies waiting for homes in shelters (many of whom will die, if they are not adopted). I have two shelter dogs (a German Shepherd mix and a Husky mix). They are both wonderful, beautiful, loving family dogs.

Bichon Frise
We have a gentle, bichon frise this is the most loving breed I have ever owned.
This breed would be great around young kids.
They have hair VS fur & are great if you have allergies.
Bichons are very smart & have plenty of energy and seem to be tougher than most small breeds.
Our bichon is not nervous, shaky, yappy or nippy like other small dogs.
