Because it's what they see on the news. Bad news sells.

And just as a reminder
-There WERE terrorists in Iraq before the US came in.
-The US has had relatively few casualities. There were battles, skirmishes even, in WWII, WWI, and the Civil War in which more men died in than the total amount of Americans killed in Iraq
-The US has rid the country of a malacious and brutal dictator who killed hundreds of thousands more civilians in his reign of terror than the civilians killed in Iraq
-The civilians in Iraq are killed by Iraqis, not Americans. It's by the terrorists OWN actions that fellow Iraqis are lost
- The people of Iraq, for the first times in DECADES are able to choose their own fate.
- Women in Iraq can walk in public alone without fear of being killed now.
- There has been a civil war for centuries between the Sunnis and the Shi'is. During Saddam's reign, they were too scared to fight because of the government.

Need I go on?

What the US and other countries are doing for Iraq, and Afghanistan, is so much better than what Saddam did. There are disadvantages, true, but this is a war. Lives are going to be lost, turmoil will be ensued, and in this case, terrorists will continue fighting and killing innocent people.

What the US and the other countries are fighting for is freedom for the Iraqi people. Freedom of speech, press, assembly, religion. The freedoms that we take for granted.

That is because there doesn't seem to be any great accomplishments achieved. I mean, what have you achieved?

Any changes that the US invasion initiated have come at an enormous social, political, economic and human cost for all parties involved, and without any noticable improvement to the stability of the region or Iraq.

Since the US invasion regional tensions have become much worse and much more unstable. many thousands of people are suffering from all sides - and for what?

Bad news for the US is it could easily get a lot worse, rather than better. I feel sorry for the US soldiers and their families who are having to fight their Government's dirty and pointless war.

I also feel sorry for the Iraq people whom are dying in their thousands. If you want America to be secure in the future then stopping the killing is a good start.

What accomplishments might you be referring to? If you consider massive loss of life on both sides and the catalyst for a civil war that may never be resolved accomplishments, then I guess you can't deny that. And the political rhetoric is coming mostly from the side that says what we are doing in Iraq is a good thing!!

You indeed made accomplishments in Irak no doubt of it : Saddam is out, they try go get a real government.

But the thing is people ( and I 'm part of them ) also see what you brought in Irak : terrorism (which wasn't there with Saddam), civil war (and I don't think you can win in this war), lots of death among your soldiers and the local population, horror things on TV (Abu Graib), oil and reconstruction contracts to people close of the Bush's administration.

We have become a country force feed by the liberal Media and for two years of political positioning that any success portrayed would not give the favored Democratic political party its new found victories.

It's sad that the accomplishments that our Soldiers Sailors and Marines do everyday will always be buried for if it "Bleeds it Leads" and a bias media.

We seem to have managed to kill and maim a lot of innocent civilians. I guess that is an accomplishment.

Maybe it has to do with the thousands of dead, and the 10 fold increase in violence since our invasion.

Great Q It's got alot to do with media they as we all know are very Liberal/Dem. so they want to make the current administration to look as bad as possible I don't understand why they do this because it also shows no support to the troops who are over there doing good things as well.
