I have a 9 month old female kitten, who we got 2 weeks ago, she woon't sleep in her bed, so someone suggested catnip spray, to get her to use the bed and her toys, but she doesn't seem to like it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do, or can anyone explain why she doesn't seem to like it?

Try real catnip. It is available in most pet stores. Some cats are simply not affected by catnip, while others just love it.
Put a shirt or something you wear in her bed. That did help my cat to use her bed. Also, the best toys for cats are ping pong balls and other interactive toys usually made from stuff at home. Like rolled up aluminum foil, into a ball. They love to bat around that shiny stuff. Some cats will take to a small stuffed toy, but most enjoy toys they can chase down.

You kitten is just probably shy, or really moody - like all cats are. I've had lots of cats growing up, and really you just have to let them do what they do.. None of our cats really liked catnip either. If she likes to rub against you or play with you all the time, try putting a shirt that you've already worn in her bed and see if that would help. But I'm sure she already has a special place that she likes to nap, maybe on the windowsill, on the back of the couch or in front of the door.. Really you just have to let her do her own thing, especially until she gets comfortable there.. Hope this helps..

Sometimes young cats and kittens are not affected by catnip. I've never known a cat to not like it, but I suppose it's possible. I don't know how to get a cat to sleep in a bed because even with catnip my cat still sleeps in my bed, not his. Good luck!

Every cat Ive had loves catnip...but I think you are looking at an answer for why she doesnt like to sleep in her bed? Where is the bed located? If away from where you sleep maybe she feels lonely. dont forget cats are nocturnal and sleep alot during the day and not much at night. Why dont you put her bed close to her litter box (somewhere she is comfortable being)and then everyday just move it a little closer and closer to where you sleep.

My mom bought catnip toys for our cats. They sniffed them and pushed them around, but pretty much ignored them. We got two cat beds for our cats and for some reason, they don't sleep in them anymore. Your cat will find somewhere to sleep where she is comfortable. One of my cats likes to sleep on a crumpled tablecloth on the table and the other likes to sleep in the linen closet. Cats are intelligent, your cat will figure it out. She could be lonely or not like where it is located or the bed itself. Like I said, she will figure it out, as long as she sleeps at some point, it should be fine. It's if she ISN'T getting any sleep that's a problem (vets solve almost everything).

On a side note, we've had our cats for over a year and one of them is still scared of everything. I'm just saying that things take time. Maybe she just needs to get used to the house.

No. Male cats tend to like catnip more and they develop that at about 6 months. I've had female cats that didn't have any reaction to it.

Remember catnip is good for cats as it helps them with their digestion.

only 2/3 of the total world's cat population are affected by catnip. Young cats are not as affected until they are a bit older.

Cats have different likes and dislikes, just like people. We have 3 cats: two go crazy over catnip, and the third can take it or leave it.

My cat does not seem to enjoy catnip either and I do not know why. She also refuses to sleep any where except up on the pillow at the top of my head.
Even during the day if I am on the couch.......she gets up on the back of the couch and lays right up by my head.

But my kitty is kinda weird anyway.......lol
But very loving and even gives kisses on your nose and cheek.
Those sandpaper kisses melt my heart.
