I'm looking to get one on the inside of my right lower arm. About 3 or 4 inches from the inside of my wrist to be exact. I'm getting a small letter (P), and the color will be white, so it will kinda look like a scar. ???

Of course it does, and it will hurt even more when you get rid of it.

How much getting a tattoo hurts really depends on a lot of factors.. What is your natural tolerence for discomfort? Can you stand a bit of pain, or do you go running for the Tylenol? Are getting your period soon? That can make it more painful. Even the time of day can have a bearing on how uncomfortable you'd find it.

The inside of the arm is going to be more painful since the skin is thin and close to the bone.

Keep in mind that under the best of circumstances, getting a tattoo is never a completely painless process. My artist says that a tattoo has to be earned, so if it's something you really want, you'll be surprised at how much you can stand.

Well, the area that you're talking about is pretty fleshy on most people, so it won't hurt as bad as if you were getting it on your spine or ribs or something, but it feels different for lots of people because everyone has different levels of pain tolerance. I thought mine was going to hurt really bad, but it wasn't as bad as I expected (that's not to say that it was a picnic... just not AS bad).

Are you sure that the place you want to go to will tattoo an all white P with no outline? Many reputable places won't do stuff like that. It will have to be about an inch or so because of the space in the middle of the P - over time, tattoos stretch and fade, and if it is really small, the inside of the P will just fade together.

Research it lots, go to lots of different places to make sure they are safe and clean, and make sure they use brand new needles and that their machines have been sterilized in an autoclave before you start. This is a life long decision you are making, and you want to be sure you are making the right decision.

Good luck!

It doesn't hurt as much as you expect it will. I had my first done on my ankle and I was so worried about how much it would hurt that I was about to walk out and forget about it, but when it started I was amazed at how much it didn't hurt at all. I could feel it but I wasn't in tears or anything, not even close to that kind of pain. It kind of felt like scratching on sunburn. I got my next one on my wrist and it didn't hurt either and I had been told that because the skin on the wrist is so fine and there are bones close to the surface, it would hurt more, but it didn't. You will be fine. The one you are getting sounds small and will only take a few minutes to do so don't stress too much!

If you go right above the inside of your wrist it hurts really bad. I have one there and I wouldn't do it again, although it is my favorite one. The higher up your arm you go the less it will hurt, at least till you get to where your arm bends. Being as its only the letter "P" it would take about 5 minutes depending on the lettering you choose. It will hurt but it will go quick so if you want that then get it.

I actually got my second tattoo a week ago today. I agree with most of the people on here, it's a different feeling for everyone depending on your pain tolerance. My first one (upper back below my neck) stung but it was bearable. The one I got last week goes around my ankle and ontop of my foot. The pain was almost too much to handle. It took about an hour and the entire time I was on the verge of passing out. BUT that was on bone, so your arm shouldn't be as bad.

No they do not REALLY hurt, you can take it. When they first start it vibrates your arm/lower back/etc... it feels kinda good once they get going. The outline is the weird part, then they start to fill in and that doesnt take that long. But start off with something small. My first tat was 3 hours on my lower back! hehe

Unfortunatly its personal nobody can anwers that for you.
I have a tattoo, when i got it done i had a reaction not sure to the ink or to the anispectic. It rose and hurt!! alot but dont let this discourage you .
i went with a friend who got a bigger tattoo and laughed the whole time because it tickled her, and another said it was mild vibration.
You will only know if it hurts and how much by getting it done.

I dont have a tatoo, but i know people who do and they all tell me that it DOES hurt, but it's bearable, I'm sure you'll be able to take it. It hurts a bit more than ear piercing and it won't be over that quickly, but you'll be fine. Just try to think about something else when you're getting it.

No, it's not too bad- this coming from someone with a low threshold of pain. I almost passed out, but not from the pain- the anxiety was killing me! The outline was fine for me, but the shading was annoying- like being constantly scratched!! Just take deep breaths and have a buddy go with you for support. You'll be fine =)

I have a 6x3cm tattoo in the exact place you are talking about.

It didn't hurt much compared to others I have had done on bony areas.

I have 8 in total & that was the easiest one I had done.

You should be fine :)
