My grandpa is 72 years old this year, and he has had tattoos since he was 17 and in the navy. Yes, the colors are faded amd yes there are wrinkles, but the meaning behind the ink is still there and he loves them. They are no longer just tattoos, but a part of his own flesh.
I will love my ink just as much when I get older!
I think the only people that this applis to are idiots who get tattooed just because it is what is in, rather than for a personal reason with signifigance.

people who have tattoos don't worry about what they'll look like when they're older. people without them that are closed minded and scrooges in general care. my parents are 50 and they both have tattoos... they still look fine. and frankly i am going to look the way i look whether i have tattoos or not. and by the time i'm 60 i really don't think i'd be winning "sex kitten of the year" award anyway. whatever.

These are the people that think people only get inked because of some fashion craze. For me it represents tradition and coming of age, and something meaningful to me. and when I'm 60 I hope I'm not one of these women that still wear the type of clothes that show my tattoo

If your tattoo has a meaning behind it then it will be special to you no matter how wrinkled it gets. Tattoos have a rap of being a "fad". For a lot of people that's really all it is, a "fad". I think the response "think of how it will look when your older" is a deterent for rebellious teenagers who are just getting a tattoo to 'make mom mad'.

Most people when they get a tattoo they think of it as just a fashion accessory. Nothing more. And a lot of people get tattoos because it is cool at the time. I think the answers of "what will that look like when you are 50" are just to make them think of the future of that designed ink on their skin.

I'm a heavily tattooed (30+) male and people always ask "What are you going to do when your 70?"
I always say "Whe I'm 70, I'll be more concerned about getting to the toilet without losing my dignity than what my tattoos look like."
Live for today, not for tomorrow.

Good for you :), I hate it when people say that, I didn't get mine
to use it as a fashion accessory, they both have important meanings to me, and I don't get why these people that say "think about what it will look like when your older" it's no skin off their hides.
