Bean and Hominy Soup for large family:
3 cans Great Northern Beans - undrained
1 can hominy or corn - undrained (I prefer corn)
1 can navy beans - undrained
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can bean & bacon soup - do not dilute
1 can diced tomatoes flavored or regular
2 cups water
2 large bay leaves
1 T dried cilantro (optional)
1 t ground cumin
3 T dried minced onions
1 T garlic powder
1 cup shredded reduced fat cheddar cheese (optional)
Combine all of the ingredients EXCEPT for the cheese into a large dutch oven or cooking pot.
Bring to a boil
Reduce heat and cover and simmer for 30 minutes
Remove and discard bay leaves
Simmer 10 more minutes
Serve with or without shredded cheese sprinkled on top
2 cup serving with cheese is +/- 326 calories and 4.2 g fat
This is a great recipe and I hope you enjoy it. If you are not preparing for a large family like mine, split the recipe in half and freeze the rest..still excellent!

I've made this soup often and it's delicious. You can add meat to it if you wish. You can't hurt this soup. It's great with either chicken or beef and is wonderful as a vegetable soup as well.
Vegetable Soup
Ingredients:
2 cups of chopped assorted mushrooms
6 large green onions
1 large yellow onions, chopped
2 green peppers
2 red peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
1 bunch celery
4 large carrots, peeled and sliced
1/2 head cabbage
1 package Lipton onion soup mix
1 quart beef stock
1or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
1 48 oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley (fresh parsley is really nice), curry, garlic powder,
etc.
Directions:
Place all prepared vegetables in large stock pot. Add stock, bouillon, V8 juice and seasonings. Stir. Bring to a boil, then lower heat to simmer and cook until vegetable are tender. Freeze servings sizes in freezer bags or freezer containers.

It depends how good you are in the kitchen/how busy you are. If you're happy to make your own then it's dead simple.
Ingredients
2 potatoes 3 pints ham stock
1 onion salt and pepper to season
1 clove garlic half cup red lentils
2 carrots 2 peppers
2 sticks celery
what to do
chop the onion and garlic, then fry in oil until transparent. Chop the other ingredients and add to the pan before adding the stock. Stir occasionally and after about 15 minutes add the lentils. Continue to cook for a further 30minutes, stirring occasionally. Before serving blend to desired consistency.
It tastes delicious, can be added to if you want to include meat - bacon is good - and freezes well.

Put the Pork Chops in a baking dish, pour the soup over them, cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees. Time depends on how thick they are. You can use a meat thermometer to check them. Sugar Snap Peas w/ Mint 2 teaspoons olive oil 3/4 pound sugar snap peas, trimmed 3 green onions, chopped 1 clove garlic, chopped 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sugar snap peas, green onion, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Stir-fry for 4 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in the mint leaves. Make some rice to go with it. Thicken the left over soup and use as gravy for the rice

I prefer both fruits and fruit and vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event that it's a fruit it includes seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
