I need to find out about someone I just came into contact with. I already searched our local court house site and it's one of them that only so many people can visit at a time, and I don't know if there is a charge or not. If you could give me any ideas that would be great.

They're public record, so there is not a charge anywhere but third parties doing the work for you. Try the county website again, and if that fails, drive down to the county courthouse yourself, and look there.

most counties can only search for their county only. to do a state search you might have to obtain that from an internet source. they charge for those are not usually more than $20, not alot if there is a serious issue you are concerned about.
