Does he cough when you aren't around if it's yes then probably little to do with you. if it's no do you wear perfume, it could be irritating his sinus/lungs so maybe don't wear any fragrances.

Metaphysically the throat area is abotu communication, and if he's coughing alot around you it may be that he is really wanting to talk to you about somehting but is pushing it down or hiding it. Ask him if there's something he wants to "get off his chest".

It's also possible he has some intimacy issues, i've heard about this with other people. How old is he? Does he have history or asthma, respiratory infection etc?

Maybe he is allergic to something you wear, your perfume or lotion. Or do you have pets? Their hair could be on your causing him to have a reaction when you two get close.

Try to use the same products he is using, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo and don't wear anything perfume next time you are around him to see if that helps.

He may be allergic to perfume. It may be anything. Do you know if he has allergies? It could be so many reasons. It sounds like allergies.

Maybe he's allergic to something of yours and you haven't put your finger on it. You need to change somethings maybe. Perfume lotions etc.

Maybe he is allergic to your perfum, laundry soap, shampoo, something along that line.

Sounds to me like it could be psychologically based. Since it can't possibly be happening everytime due to real illness.

maybe he's allergic to something you use a brand of toothpaste, moisturizer, or lip gloss. try a process of elimination.
