for a beginner 3 days a week is recommened in order to give your muscles adequate recovery time. If your muscles don't rest, they won't grow. a muscle requires 2-3 days rest before being worked out again. Try to work out for 30-45 min. is ideal. the goal is to go workout, stimulate growth by lifting heavey with good form, then stop working out and grow! find out your metabolic rate inorder to find out how much you need to eat in order to gain weight. good luck.

five days a week for at least 45 minutes you should take some supplements also
