I have 1 lb of shredded cheddar, leftover champagne, and crushed garlic. do I just melt them together? what else should I add?

Sounds like you have the right stuff. Just add a little oil also and you should be good to go. Olive oil or canola would be best.

If I may say so, don't make a fondue. Cheddar is really oily and greasy once it is melted and the champagne would not really go with it. Take the 1lb of Cheddar and freeze it til you can use it the next time. Use the champagne for other cooking instead. If you insist on making the fondue, sear the garlic in the pot, add the champagne to it, bring to boil and stirr in the cheese

Assuming that it is a dry champagne get some lemon-lime Italian Ice no longer gelato nuke it to soften it up slightly blend interior the champagne till you have a thick slurry refreeze serve with slice strawberries and/or chocolate biscotti for a "distinctive" dessert

I think you got something there...don't add anything else and easy with the garlic or you'll smother the champers....

i would recomend to not have the champagne
and you dont use cheddar cheese
