Why can't all Muslims be united. Is it like the Baptists and the Methodists who say they are both Christians but have differences that make them want to be separate. However I don't think a Baptist would want to murder a Methodist. Why is there such murderous hatred between the two Muslim Sects?

It is much of a TRIBAL THING!

They ALL read and follow the Quaran!

The Great Pretender (Mo.) was born in 570AD or 571AD and died in 632AD.
Mo left no instructions as to which son or whoever should lead the cult after his death.
The Tikrit moon worshipers have been fighting and killing each other over the leadership ever since.
That is 1,375 (?) years....so much for the religion of PEACE !

Shia and Sunni both want to lead the pack.

Yes, of course, a Sunni can accept the Shia path. They are not two different religions, but two perspectives within Islam.

There is not "murderous hatred between" them, except due to political issues. Many people profess Shiism or Sunnism simply as a title based on family and cultural tradition.

Many Sunnis detest the corrupt Arab regimes, including Iraq's former ruling party (Baath Party), and unity is taught as virtuous by the major scholars of both the Shia and Sunni perspectives.

I am an American Muslim and am friends with both sunni and shia. Most of the incidences you have wittnessed have probably been related to Iraq and what you see on tv. We once here in the us had a civil war too. In my personal life i have never wittnessed discrimination between sunni & shia

Why did Hitler and the Nazi's kill the Jews? Anyone can convert to anything because God gave everyone Free Will. Unfortunately, your question about the "murderous hatred between the two Muslim sects" is not a quesion that can be answered in the limited space here.

Try Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.

Or the Wars of Religion in renaissance Europe.

Christians have been killing each other since the word go. It's human nature.

It's simply the nature of their culture, of the human culture.
They live in very extreme conditions and therefore act extreme. I know of many American Muslims who have far less hate in their hearts than Arab Muslims.
