I have never died my hair before. I've done at home highlights and salon highlights but I would like to try a temporary hair dye bringing my hair a few shades darker brown (from light brown) just to see if its something I would like before going permanent. Does anybody know a good brand to try? and how often do they usualy last?
Also will my hair go back to the color it was prior to the dyeing or is it going to have some color difference even though its a temporary? Thanks all!

To Principes.. That is one thing I am a little worried about is getting caught up in the dyeing frenzy. Every salon I go to to get my hair cut I get ungodly amounts of 'oh my god I wish i had ur hair'..'your hairs so beautiful and soft'. And thats becuase I do pretty much nothing with it. I dont iron/curl/blowdry and rarely use styling products cuase I dont need to. I just always wanted to try a darker shade. I tan so my skin isnt the most pale. I figured i'd try for the shade on the underside of my hair which is the darker brown.

Herbal Essences Bold & Brilliant (lasts 6 weeks) or Herbal Essences Color Flirt (lasts 6-12 shampoos).

These are new, specialized formulas.

I tried the original Herbal Essences formula that lasted 6 weeks & got great results. I went from black/brown to a softer brown without the trauma of roots showing as my hair got longer.

Another option is to go to a salon and let a professional hair dresser use a semi-permanent color. I've tried this too because I wanted to try something bolder without as much risk of damaging my hair. The results were good & the color did wash out over time.

Hi,

It's good you're asking before trying. I have a natural medium golden brown hair color, and a couple yrs ago I tried those L'Oreal Color Pulse temporary dyes (washes out in like 6 shampoos i think it said), and it was a red shade... i had my hair tinted red for over 6 months. I'm not even kidding. I was quite shocked. The next level up is called semi-permanent and is supposed to wash out in 12-20 shampoos or so, and then permanent doesn't wash out. To be honest coloring hair isn't good usually... I kinda wish I never got started.

Is your skin tone right for darker hair? I'm very pale myself and I went to a dark brown when i was sick of blond hilights, but i found i am waaay too light for dark brown hair and it looked scary. Just don't take this lightly, once you start dyeing hair you can't really stop. And to get back from a dark color to light you have to bleach, so be very careful... bleach is very damaging.

Before you start this hunnie you need to fill in the highlifts with a fill tint this will cover the highlight you had ..This will then will make you hair the same color to ...Either add a perm tint or/ more highlights...You can get a filler at any beauty supply store cost arounf 3.50 a bottled and normal tint will be atrounf the same price. The product i use is Miss Calriol they have a huge range of colors...Now if you wanted bleach i would say use 7 stage hairlghting its comes in a 2 oz bottle and then you would use the a actavtor to use in you bleach simple to use any qustion IM me

Herbal Essences semi-permanent color is great. I love it and it comes out in like 28 shampoos so if you wash your hair frequently, then it should be out in a little under a month.
