You're in a pretty similar situation to me. I've had one since August. No, you can't make it go away by compressing it, not after six months. If its relatively recent (1 to 2 weeks), applying warm compresses is suppose to help. I went to see my GP when the chalazion was 4 weeks old, he put me on a 5 day regiment of flucloxacillin, that got the swelling down and lessen the pain. It got rid of the infection, but not the growth. The doc said to come back in a month if its still there, and he'll refer me to an eye clinic. I only just went back to him this month (i've been very very busy), and his refered me to an eye clinic. I haven't seen the eye doctor yet, but chances are they'll cut out the chalazion.
I think your best bet is to see your GP. If its 6 months old, it doesn't look like it'll disappear on its own. Good Luck!

Most Styes heal within a few days on their own or with warm water compresses. Hold a clean washcloth soaked in hot water against the closed lid for 5 to 10 minutes, 4 to 5 times a day. Repeatedly soak the washcloth in hot water to maintain adequate heat.
If a sty does not drain spontaneously with compresses application, visit your eyecare specialist for assistance.
Do not attempt to squeeze or drain the sty yourself as this may spread the infection.
PRECAUTIONS:
To avoid spreading any possible infection, don’t touch the Chalazion.
Do not try removing puss yourself by squeezing the Chalazion.
Personally if it were me, after 6 months I would see an eye specialist.
Good luck.

Hi Kobid
I had a lady friend of mine use this product called Eyebright (healmarketplace.com) and hers healed within a few weeks. She had her chalazion for over a year. You look at the product and might say no way, but it's the answer you're looking for.
Best of health to you
