i have a 200 pound black male named thunder and a three-legged fawn female named sabrina. they are my children!!! i have been involved with heartland great dane rescue for 5 years now. my folks got a harl dane when i was in highschool, and we haven't had another breed since. i do get tired of all the comments, though... do you have a saddle for that thing? how much does it eat? does it bite? how much does it weigh? who's walking who? etc., etc. i actually got pulled over once when thunder had his head out the window of the car because the cop wanted to see if he was really a dog! i have had 6 danes myself, my folks have had 3, and i have fostered 8 through rescue. i am currently 5 months pregnant, and my friend asked me if i was worried about the dogs being around the baby. the only animal i have that i'm worried about is the cat!!! thunder and sabrina love my 20 month old niece - emily accidently poked thunder in the eye yesterday and he didn't even flinch, he was just happy to be played with. they are the total best dogs ever!!!

I've owned and shown Danes for 25 almost 26 years. I currently have 2..a 4 1/2 year old fawn female who has an obedience title, a rally title, is a certified therapy dog and has her CGC and a 6 month old fawn boy who will going in conformation ring in a couple of months and then later will compete in obedience and rally trials and test to become a therapy dog. He will be testing for his CGC in February.
Danes are a wonderful breed of dog. They are unlike any other breed.

No. i'm no longer keen on the better breeds. I even have cared for some, they are staggering canines. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, i've got come to realize that the extra time I spend around Border Collies, the less i'm keen to artwork with a canines that doesn't have their intelligence and "form". all people who has owned a Border Collie besides as yet another canines can vouch for me when I say that they are VERY diverse of their techniques than the different breed. it is a few thing i are starting to be too used to, i assume. never asserting that different breeds are no longer as clever, yet they artwork in any different case. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, I even have had some VERY great (80+ pounds) border collies as fosters, no longer even obese. the size certainly isn't what bothers me.
