The child is two. My concern is that she is potty trained and is told to go on the potty but then she is trapped in her crib and has to pee. Then what? I think that's mean.

How old is the child?

If they can walk and communicate with you in some form then you can start potty training. I know a little girl that was potty trained by the time she was 18 months and has had one or two accidents (she is now over two years old). My kids are a little slower than that. Potty "training" doesn't mean that they are going to be diaper free immediately it just means that you are "training" them to use the potty. Being in a crib has nothing to do with potty training. My two year old is a huge wiggle worm so we left him in his crib until the last possible second (he was 23 or 24 months) where as my four year old was in a toddler bed at 14 or 15 months and we have never had any problems with him climbing or falling out of bed.

EDIT: I never thought about having a potty trained kid in a crib, never had too. :-) But that would be a legitimate concern. Unless mom or dad is willing to run in her room every time she makes a sound to see if she needs to go potty then I would say she should be in diapers when in the crib, however at two years old she should be ready for a toddler bed. Good Luck!!

How old is this child? Some parents let their toddlers sleep in a crib, so it all really depends. Personally, no, as how would the child get up at night if he/she had to go potty? Pretty hard. Also, if the child is ready to potty train, he/she is also probably ready for a toddler bed.

All kids start potty training at a different age. I've been told that they can't really control it until two years of age, but it does vary. My son started potty training just before he was two. My daughter, who's about the same age, has started showing a recent interest in sitting on her own potty. It's up to the child when to start potty training for the most part, but the parent does need to follow suit. If the child can be potty trained, the child can have a bigger bed.

It depends on the child. Some children are ready to be potty trained yet need the security of the crib while there are toddlers in toddler beds who arent ready to be potty trained.

Not really, it depends on the age and if the child is ready to be potty-trained. My daughter was still sleeping in her crib at the age of 2, but we started potty-training her.

Perhaps during the day but at night... come on. How are they supposed to get out and go potty? I think if your child is ready to be potty trained they are ready for a big boy/girl bed. Just my opinion.. but I agree with you.

I don't see why it's not okay. Its likely a child who was in a toddler bed still wouldn't wake in the middle of the night and use the toilet alone.

Any time a child starts giving the clues it needs to be potty trained, it needs to be ASAP.

The two are not related. Wether or not you child is till in a crib you should first ask if he/she is ready. is he/she asking to go potty? Are they able to tell you when they need to go?

While most kids first get out of a crib first, a child who is an early potty traininer could easly be in a crib still.

It all depends on the child and the parents. I worked at a daycare center and each child got potty train differently.

My children slept in a diaper for a while after being potty trained. I don't see a problem with that.
