My mother has no one. It's pathertic, really. She talks to the television and her cats. She's made no attempt at meeting anyone or making any friends, ever. And why should she, she has me, right? I'm a 29 y/o man who made the tragic mistake of letting my mother move in with me this past summer because after my roommate and her b/f moved out and I told her that I wanted my g/f to move in with me she said, and I quote; "I knew it, I knew you were going to leave me here alone to die in this neighborhood by myself!" Followed by Oscar worthy sobbing. I don't like my mother, I love her, but the sound of her voice makes me want to throw myself in front of a train. I'm miserable and it's effecting my work, my relationship and my mental health. She can't afford to live in the house I rent by herself because of her limited SSI and her unwillingness to stop impulse buying and look at her situation practicaly. This can't go on any longer. I will end up doing something drastic and terrible.

She sounds like a pill.Tell her mom I have a life I exspect you to get one too.If you dont start making an effort to get a social life of any kind Im going to have to put you in a home. You are driving me crazy and I cant handle you have to take some responsibility for your situation and make our lives more pleasant.secondly I seriously would consider marrying your girlfreind.Dont let your mother interfere in your relationship. As A woman being married would change the dynamics of your household.Mom needs to respect your relationship and if your married she has to.She needs to straighten up .Oh yeah dont be afraid to argue with your mother about her compulsive shopping if its really a problem. Her whining is all about manipulation.Ignore it .consider it acting. She may not realize how much she is spending on that destructive little hobby. If your girlfreindis still around she is a saint.

First, ask for help of relatives if you have any. Maybe you could split the time staying with her?
Some one mentioned nursing homes, but that can be quite expensive. If she can't afford it, it can't be all up to you to pay.
There is probably no way to tell her that won't make her upset. If she got that upset when you said your gf would live w/you, she's probably going to make you feel pretty bad. But know that you aren't being selfish. You can't support someone who doesn't take care of herself (re: her impulse buying, etc)
You didn't say exactly why you hate living with her. Is it be something she could change, if you just talk to her?
Help her look into low income housing.

not sure if you rent or own your own home but if your renting maybe you could look for a house with a granny flat out the back,
and ring around you community to find out if there is any services like people coming to read to her or a bingo group well you know what she likes to do hay maybe you could get her a volunteer job in a cat shelter keep her busy to keep her out of your hair
good luck with it all
