No, I prefer to eat them. I can never seem to eat a whole one though. ;)

We prefer to eat them with maybe a bit of hollandaise sauce. Slow cooked BBQ is also nice.

What do you find scary about this? We teach that there is no such thing as eternal damnation. That there is no smiting going on. That having impure thoughts is no big deal. And we in no way advocate stoning stubborn children to death like the bible does.

No, we like to protect them against irrational fears. We try to teach them how to think rather than what to think. We teach them to listen to the paranoid ramblings of religious teachers with skepticism. Scared children grow up into scared adults, and sooner or later some of them end up flying airliners into skyscrapers.

Teaching children not to be irrationally scared is very important.

I've been an atheist for over 20 years, and I've never scared a child, unless you consider (and you probably do) teaching a child the truth about science, logic, reason, critical thinking, evolution and the arrogance, ignorance, violence and bigotry of religion as 'scary'.

Ummmmmmm...............no more than Christians, or believers of any kind. Much scarier to fill a kid's head with images of demons, than to say, you just die, don't you think?

David W S---- I once WAS a Christian, I am currently in the process of discovering my REAL beliefs, and I think more every day, that I may be Atheist. So, I'm happy to meet you. Now, you've met a Christian who is seeking out Atheism---not as uncommon as you would like to think.

Who doesn't? Little buggers running around outside screaming at the top of there lungs and setting fire to three houses on my block playing with matches. They are ahead of the alcoholics who burned out the family down the street smoking in bed.

Do Christians enjoy teaching small children about a Jesus who loves them, and then showing them Jesus nailed to a cross? Do Christians enjoy telling small children about sin, and Hell, and what Hell's like for those who don't follow poor, dead, nailed-up and resurrected Jesus?

I keep horror stories and religious indoctrination away from my children, thank you.

Sure. Children love to be scared. I was a camp counselor, and they always wanted me to tell scary stories.

Nope, I don't keep a small statue of some poor dude getting nailed to wood in my house.

Well, it's easy, and makes me feel temporarily more important than I might have done otherwise, so.. yeah, I guess so.

(Or is this question getting at the theists who take small kids and tell them that god is watching them and will punish them appallingly for the slightest sin when they die? I can't tell.)
