i have a six month old miniature poodle and he can barely jump, and he only jumps around like 10 inches if he has a running start.
while i see other dogs jump really high and they look like they are running on the wall. is it like this for all poodles?

I don't think people are getting the "white" joke. Ever hear of the movie "White Men Can't Jump"? Of course, the color of a poodle makes no difference.

I had a poodle for 14 years and she was an OK jumper. My neighbor had a poodle named Hoppy specifically because he could jump up in the air and his owner would catch him to hold him.

Give him time. Poodles are one of the highest jumping dogs for its there size. But I didn't have a white my was black. She could jump over 5 ft and was a miniture.

Serously ask the vet next time you go. Make sure its not more then your poodle being white instead of black.

you can do alot of harm to your dog by makeing her jump that much before a year old. At 6 months old her hips are not ready for that kind of stress. For the love of your pup wait till she is alittle older to make her jump, I had a few poodles in my life time and I had toys. They will learn to jump after a year so just give her some time.

awww thats so cute!! but the answer is no. i too have a miniture poodle who is 4. when he first got her she couldn't jump. she didnt start jumping till she was 1. now she can jump about 3ft. they just need to grow enough. if by the time he's mature (1-1 1/2) then i would have him checked because he might have hip problems, which is highly prown with poodles, especially if his parents had a problem. remember poodle were breed for hunting so they can run swim and jump. trust me dont listen to everyone else, i no what im taking about.

well go luck, hope you and your poodle start good and healthy.

good luck.

My mom had a miniature poodle that could jump onto my shoulder from the floor. So I don't thinks it's like that for all poodles.

If your miniature poodle is like mine, even though mine is a 13 yr.old black poodle (isn't he precious?), he can sometimes jump onto the futon and sometimes he doesn't and just puts is front paws up on it and I have to cup his little butt and left him the rest of the way up. I think Schmitty is spoiled meaning not wanting to jump up like I know that he can, or he is feeling his age a little and can't, but otherwise mine doesn't jump either.

Yes, poodles can jump... white, black, chocolate or any colored poodle can jump. But please remember... puppies need time for many things ie: learning, maturity and strength. Teaching a dog at a young age to jump any great distance, can be harmful. It takes time to work up to the strength needed to complete certain tasks. Help your puppy learn to jump, but do it slowly. You'll have many wonderful years ahead for you both... if you give it time.

At six months, a puppy's coordination is not fully developed. Given time your poodle will undoubtedly jump.

No, other poodles (toy, standard) can jump higher.
Give him some time.
1. He is a baby.
2. He's a miniture version. If you wanted a dog that jumps high, you may have wanted a bigger dog.

I think 10 inches for a poodle puppy is pretty good..poor little short legs! You need to help him jump higher by offering treats at varying levels from the ground..he will work harder for it.
