Her tooth may be rotten or either a cavity may have come out. Sometimes, they do after a while. They will refill it. However, they are trying to create better fillings so that they will last longer and look good. Now they are doing white instead of the silver, etc.

What they will do will solely depend on the extent of the decay ( is it into the pulp and root, is there an infection and so on ) Is it a baby tooth or a permanent tooth? This will also weigh on the decision of what treatment options will be followed. Noone can tell you exactly what treatment the dentist will go with...there are many factors to be considered. I can tell you though that they will make the procedure, whatever they do comepletely comfortable for her. There are many options as far as sedation ( nitrous oxide usually works well ) That is just a gas you inhale through a little mask while the work is being done. It does not render you unconscious but rather gives you a euphoric feeling...similar to having a few glasses of wine. It is harmless and this is one thing they might be able to do for her.
Since you mentioned she has alot of cavities..you may want to also have the dentist or hygienist counsel you and your daughter on good oral hygiene habits at home to help prevent further decay. You did not mention how old your daughter is, but it is unacceptable for a child to have a mouthful of cavities. If she is a young child, then you as the parent need to be the responsible one and limit her sugar intake..this includes foods and drinks, especially cokes and juices..they are loaded with sugars. Also you need to make her brush and floss regularly at home. As parents, we have the responsibility of watching over our children. If she doesn't learn now how to take care of her teeth, she might not ever properly learn. We are only given one set of teeth and they should hopefully with care last us our entire lifetime.

First an x-ray will be taken, to determine how deep the cavitiy is. If it has reached the nerve, a root canal will be necessary to save the tooth, if not the decayed part of the tooth will be drilled out and a filling put in.

well, my little 6 year old brother had the same problem over the summer. We took him to the dentist and they pulled his teeth, they got like 6 at one time, then they got like 3 and 4 the next time. The reason they got 6 at the first time was because they was all broke off and had holes in them and stuff. The others just had cavities and stuff. Since all these was baby teeth, they just pulled all of them. If your daughter has her adult teeth they may not pull so many of them, they may just put fillings in them or whatever. The dentist will try their best to save as many teeth as possible if they are adult teeth.
But whatever they do, it will not hurt her too bad, because they have good ways of doing things now. My little brother said he didnt even feel them pulling his teeth, so dont worry

they might have to do a root canal if the tooth is too far gone. they might just re-do the filling.
