pretty much impossible. but here's a suggestion:
play some fast-paced techno (or any other really fast) music and bring a stop-watch. make it into a game, and if she cleans up her whatever within whenever she'll get a prize (a candy bar or something inexpensive). just make sure to make your prizes fun, bcuz i'm 12 and whenever I compete on something weird for prizes they are always really lame... aim for some Hershey bars or Crunch bars or some candy, but bring a variety of prizes for her to pick, in case she either 1.) hates her prize, or 2.) can't use her prize (as in if she is too young for it, like giving her a 'Rubix Cube' or something). bring like a bag full of toys and candy from the dollar store, which would be considered fun for a 7-year old. make several stages of cleaning, such as cleaning up this section in this amount of time, or that other section in that amount of time, etc. and, another idea, in case she can't get it done in time: make several stages of prizes, such as:
1st prize: pick up this area in less than 1 minute
2nd prize: pick up this area in less than 1 1/2 minutes
3rd prize: pick up this area in less than... you get it.
good luck!

Well honey there is no way to make this fun for a 7 yr old unless your Mary Poppins. So with that tell her either she cleans up or they're will be no playing, snacks, talking, watching tv, video games coloring. She will stand in one spot until her parents come home and see what she does. If she asks to go the bathroom follow her and stand right there if she does nothing make her go stand right back in that spot. I will gaurantee she will clean up quick, fast and in a hurry!

Who LIKES to clean? Do you? Why should she? You are babysitting, you are in charge of what she messes with. If she wants to play with more things, she has to clean up after herself. Let her know that. Because she is 7, she will get sick of playing with 2 books and 5 blocks. Once you present yourself as the one in charge, she will begin to respect your authority. Don't let anything slide. A soon as the mess becomes out of control, tell her to clean it up a bit. Pretty soon she'll begin to notice on her own. GOOD LUCK!

i nanny a four year old so i guess it is a little different, but we dance and clean, i keep a flowy skirt around for her to spin in, she loves that. basically she's the kid in the situation, she can help clean and try to have a little fun, or she can throw a fit and cry in her bed all day till her parents get home. she usually opts for cleaning and dancing. we play the music real loud too. she seems to think that is great! good luck.

you are nice. When my kid dcomplains she gets more work.. but if you are babysitting I guess it is different. Sometimes when my kids are young we have contests... the one who cleans the fastest wtih the best attitude gets a cookie... somehow I always fall slightly behind and the kid gloats while I sit there and beg for a bite of the cookie, swearing that I will win next time

for every one item that she picks up or cleans up gets her some kind of treat that she would like ( not candy) or each item is worth say 1 minute of doing something that she likes to do, something special that she doesn't do everyday. you could even let her decide what the reward will be. the important thing is to have fun with it and be creative about it and it's OK to ask the child what she thinks would be a good idea as well.

youngsters like to be rewarded by what they do. I recommend, we get rewarded at our workplace with bonuses for a strong pastime performed on the suitable of the year, so youngsters are not diverse. With my 9 year previous son, I supply him money each week. he's incharge of cleansing the residing room, conserving his room sparkling and cleansing the hallway and that i pay him each week $5.00 and he's amazingly pleased with it. He has a can contained in the kitchen the position I deposit his money on a weekly foundation. He makes use of his money to purchase extra snack in college, McDonalds or merely saves up for a toy or a movie he needs to get. He loves doing this. It not really teaches him duty inspite of the indisputable fact that it also teaches him to keep money and take care of money and it enables him too to keep my stress element low. contained in the intervening time i'm also practise him to assist his destiny spouse :) My husband by ways does not help till I ask.
