I know that I had to wait until I turned 24 to be able to claim myself. I'm not sure if that was school specific or nation wide though. Until then you are considered a dependent of your family, unless you can claim some extreme circumstance (parents are dead, you had yourself claimed as independent from your family by a judge).

For college or in general? For college, I believe the age is 25 before they stop holding your parents responsible for the application process (i.e., before they stop insisting on using your parents' financial credit and income in the decision to grant a loan).
In general (e.g., loans from a bank), it's 18.

When you apply for it you will be asked to determine your eligibility to claim yoursself and the questionnare starts by asking were you born before january 1, 198 something i think for 2007 you had to be born before january 1, 1984

if ur living on ur own or if your living with family or even freinds what ever age you fill out the form thts what u put. Ur not living with ur parents so ur not dependent
