Well maybe you should talk to him about something that you guys both like. I was in sort of a similar situation with a guy. I see him about 40 minutes a day, and I'm always grinning during that time. :P
Before I went up to talk to him for a while, I was really nervous around him, and what I would say to him when I finally decided to talk to him. But then I asked a friend of mine who is also friends with him what sort of things he liked. One of them was soccer. I am also into soccer, so I just sat by him at lunch a few days and well soccer tryouts are starting to get talked about at our school (it revolves around sports at my school) so I brought it up. We talked about if he was going to go out this year, and stuff like that. Just talked about soccer for a while, then eventually it got on to another subject, and then after about 30 minutes and it was almost time to go, I asked him out... and he said yes. :D
But anyway, the best bet for you to talk to him about something that is a mutual interest between you two. It might work out as well for you as it did for me. Good luck!

Talk to him about what's going on that minute. Such as if something funny or amusing happened with a teacher/student. You shouldn't just make a list of topics and go down the list. Let the conversatoin flow and feel natural. Start off with hi, how are you doing. Then gradually move from there. You could even mention the something about the lunch.

Boys are not that confusing. Half the time we dont know what to do. Just ask him how things are. If you have had any of the same classes talk to him about that. Boys just want girls to be upfront with them rather than trying to make us guess.

No we're not. Girls just complicate everything. Look at your question, you don't even know what you feel or what to do about what you feel. If you like the guy, why don't you just tell him and see if he feels the same. And it's simple from there, if he's not interested, you just move on. Stop complicating simple things.

It doesn't sound like he's confusing. It sounds like you are confused. Just go up and ask him if he wants to go to a movie. The worst he can say is no, especially if you heard he likes you.

Ask him. tell the certainty. tell him pertaining to to the rumors and ask for affirmation or negation. it is an extremely harmless and logical question. See how he reacts, then act subsequently.
