Wow! I have known one of my male friends since Kindergarten!!! I ALWAYS liked him when I was a little girl, but you know how it is when you're little. But the crush never faded. We went to the same elementary school and I liked him. We went to the same middle school and I still liked him! I thought it was jsut a phase. We went to seperate high schools, but kept in touch though IM'ing. I knew that I had to like him a lot because the crush never faded, it seemed as if I just liked him more and more as time went by and we matured. I finally got the courage to ask him out one day while we were just kicking it and he said yes. We started dating and it was just beautiful. It was funny because at first we acted a little awkward towards one another because you know when you liek someone but you're "just friends" you have certain thoughts but becasue you're "just friends" you can act upon them. Well, it was weird at first, you know being able to act upon our feelings and sutff, but once we got past that, we had a beautiful relationship. Now, I don't want you to think this is some fairytale type stuff, because our relatiosnhip lasted a year, but then we broke up. He was a workaholic and I was a danceaholic, so it didnt work out. But it was a mutual parting and we're still cool now. So, I mean if you really wanna go for it, I said DO IT! If he's that cool of a friend, he'll understand and even if he doesn't want to be with you, if he cool he'll handle the situation properly.

I hope all goes well!! And in the end, no matter what, you two still remain friends!

Absolutely!! If you have a good friendship then you should be honest with him and let him know you like him in more than a friendship way. You already have the friendship part, so if there is a mutual romantic attraction too, you may have a wonderful relationship. However, if he doesn't have the same romantic feelings you do, then you will have to be able to handle it. What does your gut instinct tell you? You should be able to tell a little if he likes you or not.

I'm actually in a similar situation right now, and I'd say go for it! Being long-term friends is great, and you should trust each other enough to give it a try.
A word of warning, though: should he turn you down, don't let it mess up your friendship. Just be sure of your priorities and step forward with confidence and trust.

tell him that you like him and if he doesn't like you it's okay and the two of you should stay friends bc if he does and it doesn't work then your relationship with him won't be the same but, if you tell him and he doesnt like you that could also change things as well.

If you two have been friends for that long, he has to have some feelings for you. First, make sure he isnt going out with anyone. Then talk to him about your feelings for him. If he feels the same way, then go for it !!!
