Despite chocolate being a food which is high in calories, saturated fat, and sugar, recent studies by Dr. Vlachopoulos at the 1st Cardiology Department, Athens Medical School have found that dark chocolate is a food which promotes cardiovascular health.

If your professor says you must take a stand, he wants your opinion, rather than a demonstration that you understand the opinion of Dr. Vlachopoulos. Perhaps if you change the word "found" to "shown," that would qualify.

It sounds like you are saying that chocolate is both good and bad. After all, calories, fat, and high sugar are not desirable things.

Do you agree with the study's findings? If so, then restate the beginning to say that. Also, I cannot tell from this thesis if you are talking about dark chocolate in both parts of the sentence. Are you making a distinction between milk and dark chocolates?

Maybe you can say that chocolate has a bad reputation because of the reasons you listed, but not all chocolates are created equal. Maybe you can spice it up a little and make it sound like a legal proceeding. Discrimination, falsely accused, etc.
