Don't know if it will be in a year...maybe a couple once the bugs are worked out of it enough. When windows 95 first came out I was running win3.11 and upgraded to win95 at the first release but went back to win3.11 real fast.it wasn't until around 97 that the bugs were worked out so you could do anything with out having it crash. by then win98 was on the market, but there again it was 99 before I upgraded to win98. I guess what I am trying to say is if it works for you use it, if your like me let everybody else work the bugs out first. BTW I just upgraded last year to winXP....guess I'm just going to lag behind...LOL

I've not tried it. But all Windows Based Software I've seen are hardware and memory hogs. Try Quicken and Money with the same data and save the data to disk with each and compare file size. As to everyone switching to Vista? Never... There are people on 98 that are completely satisfied with what they have so when you say everyone your field is to broad. Ask question again with a 80% factor and say at least 3 years time limit. I think Vista is more for the 64 bit computers and even they need some time to get to peak compatibly terms. But given time they will. I had a friend that always waited for the version 2 in software and hardware to come out before he built his computer and purchased software for it. I will have to say he ran into less troubles to work out. This is just the way new items are they all have some bugs. Given a good economy, version 2 I might build a new 64 bit computer and try Vista even though I do not need one for what I do with it since retirement.

YES and NO. In any case, Microsoft will make a KILLING.
Couple of comments:
1) ALL new manufacturers are switching their production lines as we speak so that inventory of new PC/Laptops is beginning to take place. These ALL have VISTA on them. Beginning Jan 30th, any new PC that is purchased in any retail channel will be VISTA. (Older XP machines will be rotated back for refurb in channel, clearance priced, or other 'less than newest' sales promotions)
2) Existing XP machines in Corproate environments will slowly switch. Probably most of 2007 will pass before any major percentage of Corproate XP machines switch due to application and support compatibility. Some Corproate customers may wait YEARS to switch (if ever)
3) Hobbiest community for WIndows will switch nearly overnight. These will be the folks that camp out at COMPUSA overnight to get their copy first. They will build gaming rigs and lightning speed PCs before February 1st!
4) Casual users at Home who have XP.... Grandpa and your 15 year old cousin Billy who got their new PC last year. These PCs will probably never switch over. Instead they will wait till their PC is 5 years old and then just BUY a NEW machine.
Complicated answer huh?

There's still ppl using Windows 3.1. Vista is much more of a hog than Win XP, and there's alot of computer out there that can't even handle XP much less Vista. The new computers, however, will be using Vista, but be aware, you need 2GB of Memory to run Vista properly, any less will drop performance greatly.

you have put in the beta version of internet Explorer 9 and are actually complaining that it motives subject concerns, which does not make any experience. Beta utility isn't meant for universal domicile consumers. Beta utility could be volatile, reason severe subject concerns, et cetera. Beta utility is meant for attempting out applications purely. once you install beta utility, you're taking a risk and you will possibly desire to be arranged to sparkling up any subject concerns which arise from setting up it your self and to not whinge approximately it, it fairly is what you're doing now. Sorry, yet once you're actually not computing device savvy adequate your self, do not setting up alpha or beta utility or any launch applicants, yet purely watch for the purely suited launch of an utility. domicile windows Vista had an excellent variety of initiate subject concerns, besides the undeniable fact that it is not as undesirable any further because it was. domicile windows XP and domicile windows 7 besides the undeniable fact that are nevertheless the two extra effective performers. As for dealing with domicile windows Vista, do not setting up any pre-launch utility which makes your existence a lot extra easy already.

probably not. xp was much better than 98. vista is not much better than xp in terms of what people can see and feel. not to mention that you'll need to buy a new computer to even run vista - a huge resource hog.
personally, i'm going to keep watching linux distros and hope that most people will catch on

Not really. Win2K was my fave, and I'm using Ubuntu Edgy Eft with Winblows XP Pro on a dual boot machine.
Linux kicks Winblows ***! I can see more people going over to Windows-esque Linux distros...

Not everyone will - I might but only half a year or longer after released because there are usually bugs found in Microsoft Software soon after release as they rush into releasing it.
