No because it is not filled with any thing, its a cake because its mostly the same thing the whole way though. Think of it when it is sliced most of a cheescake you see cheescake where as in a pie you the filling,

The word itself says cheeseCake so i guess i would have to say cake or just put it under the heading for dessert. To me it is more like a pie.

Yes, it actually is considered a pie, according to Alton Brown on the food channel. It has a crust and a filling.
