First of all head and shoulders is the worst dandruff shampoo you can use. It works yes, but is VERY harsh to hair. I have recently had a bad spout of dandruff and tried nuetrogena t-gel. It guaranteed to rid of most of the dandruff on the first shampoo and it did!!! If you are looking for a more natural way try tea tree oil. It is at any pharmacy and works for dandruff and lice etc.

I am sorry to say I am a professional on this topic -- You need something with cold tar in it -- forget head and shoulder and selson blue -- denerex is the way to go or thera??? with cold tar (it maybe cool tar) in works and it is pricey (at least $7.50 or more) but it will work and you will not have to use it more than 1 or twice a week (after first 5-7 consectutive days) to maintain dandruff free (of course use another shampoo the other days)

redken has a new dandruff shampoo and conditioner- its good. also some times a hairspray will build up in your hair making it look like dandruff--to remove a hairspray buildup mix baking soda and water it doesn't matter how much of each, pour it on your head, comb it through --takes buildup out immediately--does it better than any professional product that i have seen and it doesn't hurt the hair any --it has the same ph as water--good luck

I'm not sure which conditioner but I use L'Oreal Elvive Elvive anti-dandruff shampoo if my scalp is itchy or if I get dandruff. When I use it my scalp feels better after 1 wash. You can get it for either greasy or dry hair.

Well, I'm a white girl with brownish hair and I use Neutrogena T-Gel or T-Sal (the unscented version).

My bf is Mexican and he swears by Selsun Blue and says his whole family does, too. Something about his thick, dark hair makes other products less effective but the Selsun Blue always works. Go figure!
