He's 18, I'm 16, and its not a sexual relationship, but is it still considered illegal?

No its not .. my friend that was 16 was going out with an 18 year old her parents hated him and try to get alot of things on him though the court ... it turns out that its alright for an 18 year old to be dating and having sex with and 16 but if she was 15 it would of been a totally different issue

People here are so ignorant. It depends on what state you are in. The age of constent is 16 or 17 in MOST states! Meaning you can have sexual relations ... but every state is different. Some it's 17, some 18.

I'd say not. The law really only puts constraints on sexual liasons.
If "dating" means sex, still probably not. I'm in CA, and the law here (I'm fairly certain on this one thanks to LoveLine) is that for minors over the age of 13 (age of consent), the older one must be within 3 years of age, which sets the limit for a 16-year-old at 19. I'd say you're fine.
If you still are not sure, just look up your state's laws on the subject.

Depends on the state. But generally that age gap is illegal in any state if the couple has engaged in some sort of sexual activity. And one of you told a law official.

why is an 18 y.o. guy hangin with a 16 y.o.?
no offense but why aint he looking for women his age?
ill give you some examples, when i turned 18,
my best friend was 17, same birtday.
if she had any pot or alcohol in my car, or whatever i would have went to jail, 16 y.o.'s needs to stick with the minors, leave the grown men alone. just my advice.
my niece is 16, she dont hang or go out with 18 y.o.
thats a big hell no!!!

No it is not illegal. It only becomes illegal if you have sexual relations and you or your parents decide to press charges.

it all depend on the state you, the age of consent varies from state to state, interesting if you are 16 old girl dating 18 old, even sex will be legal.. see this link and found your state, like i fyou are in sc it is ok, if you are in CA, it is illigal. go to this webpage adn found out yourself/what is the law in your state
