I am rapidly losing faith in this site as it is simply FILLED with incorrect information.
Plasma televisions DO NOT "lose their gas", they do NOT require a backlight lamp, and the pixels are SMALLER than LCD, not bigger. DLP sets are the best choice but are more expensive and, while from a technical standpoint 1080p televisions are supposed to be better, you will be spending a lot of extra money for a negligible difference in picture quality- the average person can't see a difference between 1080i and 1080p.

Please, please, please people....if you don't know what you're talking about, don't say anything! There are people out there that may wind up spending thousands of pounds on this mis-information. (For the record, I have been working in the audio-visual industry for over ten years.)

But don't take my word for it either- do the research yourself and don't rely on uninformed opinions.

A plasma tv has much larger pixels the a LCD. This being said the smaller the screen with lager pixels the more inperfection that you will see. Purchase a 32" LCD. You have to go big ie-40" and above for a nice look on a plasma.

I work in an office with both Plasma and LCD we have a LOT of them. we have far fewer problems with the lcd monitors than the plasmas.
Currently the sharpness of picture on both is very good.
HOWEVER on both models remember that WHEN not IF the bulb inside fails they are very expensive to service.

An alternative is known as DLP televisions they give an extremely sharp picture, are smaller than traditional big screens, but I do not think most dlp TVs are wall mountable.

id go for lcd. plasma has slightly sharper colours but use a lot more power.

also before you buy, listen to how noisy the tv is. we just got a 50" plasma and the noise from the tv is very loud, which is aparently normal

The differences don't really matter because you aren't going to find a 32" plasma in any stores anyways. They start at 37" for most brands.

Most plasma's require much more energy (elecricity) than an LCD... up to 10 times as much !!!

Read this articile from last month from BBC News:

LCD or Plasma... we have a normal family house... with us and kids watching tv throughtout day and night... do i want my electricity bills boosted by a gas guzzling appliance and pay hundreds more a year?... no !

up to 42" lcd are far better. above this some people say plasma have a slight edge. if you intend gaming on it avoid plasma. the best on the market at present is the sony bravia range.

If you have the extra money, definitely go with the Plasma with a 1080p because the picture is going to be better.

Go for LCD because from what I know, plasma color will fade with time.
