The computer stops working once this window pops up. Any ideas as to what that could mean? I've tried to reformat my computer before.

It stands for remote procedure call. Or in in english it means some program tried to do something and failed and corrupted the RPC process.

See what you've got running when it poops out on you. Task manager (click over a blank area with the right mouse button on your task list and you'll get an option for task manager)

Reduce what you have running and that will help you to figure it out. One of your programs is not playing nice and that's where the error's coming from

Think about the last thing you installed? What was it?
Anti virus is sometimes a culprit, update something lately?

What is happening or what are you doing at the time it does this? Are you surfing the web? What programs are you running? I recently had the same problem every time a site that used Adobe Flash Player loaded. Figure out what you are doing at this time it happens and then you go from there.
