In Catholic terms, it was actually 7 days, and it's a metaphor... Hebrews viewed some numbers in different ways. For example, 40 days didn't really mean 40 days.. it was a metaphor for meaning a very long time. I THINK 7 means perfect, because 6 (being the "devil's number") means imperfect. I hope this clears up a few things.

Yes God could have made the universe instantly. Remember that God also created time itself. So God exists outside of space and time. Based on my bible understanding, the 6 days are the work week that God established for us with 1 day reserved for rest and remembering God's creative work.

Please read the first verses of Genesis. Gen 1:1-4 God creates the universe prior to the first day, when in verse 5 He separates the light and the darkness which is the first day. God does not need days to create anything He speaks and it happens. Remember the place of His dwelling and the inhabitants existed before any day existed, He really made day for man's benefit. Because He is from eternity and wil always be eternity....no days are in eternity.

Bob is perfect in being a slacker. I mean, if you ever want to make your own universe do you really want to try to beat less than 6 days? Thank Bob being so nice to make it an easier record to beat so we all too can dream of setting the new record!

Because according to the Documentary Hypothesis, the Jews, while in Egypt, copied two separate creation myths (explaining the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 discrepancies) and these myths were later mixed with Babylonian myths.

Have you seen Hubble's pictures of the universe? Have you noticed the anatomy of a human being? Do you know what's in the center of the earth? Do you know everything that is in the heavens? Do you know everything that is in the sea?
He's saving His blinking for His second coming. I believe it's speaking the wicked out of existence on the earth instead of blinking. For sure everything that can be shaken will be shaken. If it's not of God it will be burned up.

he did it that way because he wanted to admire his work and make the world in stages just like when you bake a cake if you just dump the ingredance in to the bowl with out mesuring the proper amount of the ingredance you'll have an inedable mess also you have to pour the foundation before you build a house or the house will wash away when it rains or sink into the ground

Yes, He can, and that's what exactly the bible says.
Psalm 33:6,9
6By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
8Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
But it was for the sake of man, that He did it in six days, so that man can get the benefit and blessing of resting on the seventh day after six days of labor, forever after that. The unit of a week consisting of 7 days is made by God for man's benefit.
27And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
(Mark 2:27,28)

Probably to set an example for the way one should live.
6 days of work, 1 day of rest. Yet, most people today do little or no work or housework 2 days of the week.
