Practice in front of a mirror. First try it without making any expression. When you have that down, then try it with a slight smile.

Do those around you frown when you sing? If so you may want to take up the saxaphone. Seriously, it may be you are straining to sing in a key that is not right for you. Try just speaking the words and then sing in the vocal range that is closest to your speaking voice.

If you are serious about singing, take some lessons, because you are obviously not singing properly and you could maybe damage your voice. When you sing a long E sound (like in the word feelings), you should look like you're smiling if you are doing it correctly.

You probably don't actually frown, you just frown your eyes. When people say to smile, they mean with your eyes and your eye brows. Get in the habit of raising your eye brows and making them become more expressive. They can really help transmit the text of what you are singing about, and they can make a dramatic improvement on your voice. You use to do a lot of things that were dumb, but you stopped because none of them helped you, this is one of them, just remember you can simply stop frowning and raise and brighten your eye brows.

I had this problem when performing in my school play.
Practice in front of the mirror! Take your music and, piece by piece, sing it in front of the mirror. Watch yourself keep your mouth open and wide...you'll have to sing each 2-measure part or so SEVERAL times. Then, put it all together, piece by piece, watching yourself the entire time. Remember...practice makes perfect!

Focus on smiling when you sing. Do vocal warm ups where you do lots of ee sounds.
I always feel I sound better when I sing smiling so sing and grin and then when you sing again try and replicate the sound you mad when you were singing and smiling.

to be honest i think almost everyone has that habit...when i play keyboards....lol....it's like i've seen something scary or yucky coz i have these weird facial expressions. Not sure if anything can be done, but when u feel it coming just try and control it, not easy but try.

its not a big deal. you just have a unique expression while singing. that doesnt mean you should stop singing. if you cared that much about singing.. your expression wouldnt worry you/ change your mind about how wonderful your voice is.

Maybe it is just fear. It will go away eventually. When you get used to singing and sing for a while, then it'll eventually go away. Have fun singing!!!
