Hi there, I'm looking for a timer to turn on my lamp in the morning to wake me up. Does anyone know where I can find one or what it would be called?

It would be called simply a timer and you could find it in any hardware store, discount store, etc. (i.e. Wal-Mart, K-Mart) in the electrical department...generally where they have the ceiling fans, and electrical components for lamps and light bulbs. You can pre-set the timer to turn on an off the appliance that is plugged into it. I wish that was all it would take to wake me up!..I'd need a drive-by by the fire department everyday! ;)

You can buy a simple "light timer" from any hardware store and even a grocery store, sometimes. The brand may vary but the principle is the same. There is a central dial that you set with pegs that indicate when you want the lamp to turn on and when you want it to shut off. It's basically an interruption of electrical power to the lamp cord that is plugged into the unit that is, in turn, plugged into the wall socket.

Use a lamp timer. They cost about $10.00 for the mechanical version, the digital types are $20.00. If you have an overhead light with a wall switch, use an x-10 light switch and x-10 controller.

Hi there!
You can go to Target and pick one up. They are called "automatic light timers" and they are in the home improvement section. I'd recommend getting a digital timer though, because they are much easier to program. Hope this helps!! :)

Kmart carries a 24 hour timer. It also is under $10. So I bet you could get it at Kmart, or Wal mart, Home Depot, which ever palace you like to shop.
