No words better spoken...
People, are just that... people. Some try to instill their thoughts and beliefs into others, because they feel that "they can't be wrong, so everyone else is". In that sense, they are wrong.
Elvis was, and will always be, Elvis. Publicity, good or bad, will only help to keep him "alive".
As for other people and their tastes, although we may not like it, it would be a dreary World indeed, if we didn't have some differences. Imagine everyone in the World being of one Faith... what if that faith was wrong all along? Come Judgement Day, wouldn't we be a sorry lot?
Or everyone eating grub worms... (yech) .. if everyone ate them, who would go (yech) then?
I was around during Elvis's reign.. he was then, and still is, in my opinion, the greatest Rock and Roller.
Not to say that there weren't other great ones.. he was just the best. Someone has to be, it just happened to be him...in my opinion.. others will think otherwise.
Don't pay to much heed to others, as they have their opinions also, and without them, we wouldn't have a guage to set our standards with. Without a guage, how would we know what IS great? How would we know Elvis was the best, if there wasn't others who were almost as good?

Elvis is called the King because in the world of popular music that is exactly what he is. After all these years people still play his music and talk about him. Most of today's music makers come and go in a few months. There music will not be playing in years to come. Because he was better than most some people like to try and put him down but they are a small minority.

Even James Brown thought Elvis was an original. Why are Elvis fans so caught up with the Elvis Haters? Dude, just listen and enjoy.

It's human nature really....most people feel the need to criticize what they don't like to ensure that others are aware that they don't don't like certain things. It seems rather unfair but that's how the people of the world are. I'm sure we have all done it at one point in time, and were probably unaware that we even did it. Don't let it bother you so much though, you will find a way to deal with it (or let it be for that matter).
Take care.

He had some bad parts to his persona like the Elvis mafia which is frowned upon so perhaps these supersede his good elements.
