Nooooooooo! It alters their texture and they get mushy and lose some of their flavor. Only do it if you must. just keep them on the counter, stem side down.
If you won't be using your tomatoes for a few days, buy them slightly underripe.

When I've grown them myself I don't refridgerate tomatoes. However, most store bought tomatoes have been forcibly ripened. They spoil fast so refridgerating them keeps them usable longer.

if the tomatoes are fully ripe and you won't be using them immediately they may be refrigerated. they will definitely keep longer. i try to only buy what i will use within a few days and then refrigeration is not an issue. if you are going to eat them fresh as in a salad bring them to room temp before serving.

If you're using them right away, there's no need to refrigerate them, otherwise, they should be refrigerated, because they will keep longer. Also, Roma tomatoes stay fresh longer than the beefsteak or hothouse tomatoes.

i am a tomato addict, literally....i love them....i eat them every single day...i don't know what you are "supposed" to do with them...but they are outright nasty when you put them in the refrigerator...i would rather go to the supermarket more often to get fresh ones (or pick my own, in season) than to put them into the refrigerator....they are just gross after being in there...it alters the taste and texture of them....i leave mine on the counter

I just saw a food show on TV and they said the best thing to do was to leave them out of the refrigerator.

It depends if you want to ripen them or keep em the way they are
Ripen = Counter
Other wise use refrigerator.
If it's cut use refrigerator.
