I have a lot of friends but living alone is hard on me. I appreciate the privacy, but when I start to feel lonely I get really unproductive at home. When I have a lonely spell, I hardly cook or clean. These feelings of lonelieness come and go. Does anybody have similar experiences? How do you deal with them?

I know what you mean. I just try to keep myself busy, take up a hobby, invite a friend or some family over, SOMETHING. Like you, I do like my privacy, but there are times when you need a conversation with someone at or near your level.

God, I know exactly what you mean.

Know what I did? I got a dog.. not just any dog.. an awesome dog. I began to train him as a therapy dog, and now we go twice a week to the Children's Hospital to visit terminally ill children. Volunteer work can also be a fun hobby.. I'm not saying get a therapy dog, but maybe try volunteering somewhere and staying extra active, surrounded by people.. you'll meet people, forget about being lonely, and have fun while doing it!

Well to be honest i thnk getting a pet, like a cat or dog, for companionship would be a good deal, or you could get a friend to stay as a roomate maybe. Well good luck with all thats on your shoulders now, and have a good year!

Don't stay at home. I also live alone, but it's basically my "sleeping box". Simply because I don't do much at my place other than sleep and shower, there's minimal cleanup to be done.
