I needed to elaborate on my question further:
The thing is we both know alot of personal things about eachother things i have never told anyone else and vice versa. I really like this person and i just don't want to feel stupid to how my feelings have become towards him. We have even sent expensive gifts to one another and speak everyday and the whole relationship feels genuine. Arrangements have been made to meet up with one another especially before i move their for good. These plans were made before i actually met him.

i am answering some questions for cat woman. well this is how i feel, first you have to be very careful. How long has it been since you both known each other.Secondly if it has'nt been long i hope you dont take any huge steps .always keep your guard up to protect your heart. and your safety ecspecially if you two really have'nt met in person, personally i have been in a long distance relationship, actually i am currently in one. and it is very hard for me.i have been hurt so many times in the past.me and the guy i'm with have been together for six years, but it has been a up and down relationship.we always lived together up untill 3months ago.now he getting a place of his own.make sure you really know someone before you jump in to anything lust or great sex conversations just isnt enough.GOOD LUCK

Well i personally think that if you both know alot of personal things about eachother and really do feel close (whether its genuine on his terms or not) that you should go with ur instincts. I think that love is a risk that should be taken whether its close or far distance. I've met a guy from a far distance too and things have worked out fatastically even tho i was warned they wouldn't. However be careful towards your feelings the last thing you want is your heart broken. If you are moving to america thats great....... so just meet up with him and take things from there you never know things may work out better than you may think but may also not so just be aware of that. GOOD LUCK and hope everything works out for the best. Love is hard to find and once you have found it keep hold of it. Its a risk that ought to be taken if you both feel the same go for it.

It could possibly work out if you two end up close enough.

America is a big country and unless one of you makes lots of money it will be hard to meet if you live very far away. Some of our states is about size of England and we have 48 of them all on the same continent

Whatever it is, you can't be sure yet. So think of it as friends, it really is the best sort of relationship you can have at the moment. If you choose to change that in the future, so be it. But right now, don't rush things until you're certain.

Its neither, you guys are not close enough to pass the test of 'friendship' and there so many things you will never know about a person until you stay close to them.

So i guess its just penpal

It's penpal. Hard to have any other kind of relationship over 6000+ miles.
